Elin Wärnå’s career at Fresh Servant shows how an open mind, curiosity and the courage to seize opportunities can open new doors. Her journey from production employee to workforce planner has involved learning and growth, as well as a desire to develop both herself and her work community.
From production to the HR Team
Elin joined Fresh Servant in January 2017 as a food production employee. During her first months, she worked in both pre-production (SK) and the packaging department (Pack) before becoming a line operator in the packing department. She still remembers her first day vividly.
“I received a very warm welcome. My manager took great care of me, and I immediately felt that I was valued and supported.”
At that time, Elin had no idea where her career at Fresh Servant would eventually take her.
An unexpected opportunity that changed everything
After two years in production, an opportunity emerged that Elin had never really planned for. During the summer of 2019, she worked as a shift supervisor in packing department. When that temporary assignment was coming to an end, a colleague encouraged her to apply for an open workforce planner position.
“I had never considered workforce planning as a possible career path. I applied almost by chance because I wanted to try something new and continue developing myself.”
In the autumn of 2019, Elin started as a temporary Workforce Planner. It did not take long before she realized that she had found a role that truly suited her.
Growing as a professional and as a person
Over the years, Elin has learned a great deal, both about her work and about herself. She feels that she understands her strengths and development areas much better today than she did before.
“I now have a much clearer understanding of what I do well and when I need support from others.”
Nearly seven years in workforce planning have brought constant opportunities to learn and grow. The continually evolving nature of the role is one of the things Elin appreciates most.
For Elin, successful workforce planning is reflected in how production needs and employees’ skills come together: the right people are in the right place at the right time.
A workplace where you can be yourself
According to Elin, one of Fresh Servant’s greatest strengths is its work community.
“At Fresh Servant, it’s easy to be yourself. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and friendly.”
Over the course of her long career, many colleagues have also become friends. Of the company’s values, wellbeing is especially close to Elin’s heart, and she sees it reflected every day in her own team.
“In our team, we set personal wellbeing goals every week. It’s a practical way to take care of ourselves and each other.”
A diverse role that keeps things interesting
In her current role as a workforce planner, Elin particularly enjoys the variety of her work.
“Something new is always happening. No two days are the same, and sometimes you need to react quickly to changing situations.”
The shared desire to succeed and develop also motivates Elin in her work.
Looking ahead
Looking ahead, Elin wants to deepen her expertise and continue developing workforce planning. Her current role constantly offers new opportunities to learn, and the support of her colleagues helps her take the next steps.
“I receive great support from my colleagues, which makes continued development possible.”
When asked what advice she would give to a colleague who is considering their own career development, her answer comes without hesitation:
“Be brave enough to take a step forward and try something new. You’ll never know until you give it a chance.”
The courage to seize new opportunities has taken Elin from production to workforce planning and continues to encourage her development at Fresh Servant.
